NICARAGUA/MANAGUA

The Manague project was founded twenty-one years ago and is located in one of the poorest areas in Managua. We are working with an education initiative consisting of seventy children, four teachers and one assistant.

The children are from ages 1-6 in the kindergarten and 7-13 in the primary school. In addition to academic teaching, the children are engaged in daily yoga and meditation.

Through activities such as the ‘social-circle’, the kids learn about internal and external values and their relationship with the people and nature in their environment. The initiatives are tailored to each individual’s needs and expressions. The kids love yoga, as you can see in the pictures below. They also participate in computer classes and swimming.

The social outlook is a very important part of their teaching, and they are engaged in environmental activities once a week where they help pick up garbage around the village and parks nearby.

The director of the school is Acarya Didi Prema from Chile, who has been working in Nicaragua for fifteen years.
